Our Story and Beliefs at Funny River Church

At the Funny River Road Church of Christ in Soldotna Alaska, we are simply Christians seeking to follow the Bible as our only guide. We are not part of any denomination but strive to be the church described in the New Testament.

Our Beliefs

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It is complete, trustworthy, and our authority in all matters of faith and life.

God

We believe in the one true God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).

Jesus Christ

We believe Jesus is the Son of God, who lived a perfect life, died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). Through Him, we have the hope of eternal life.

Salvation

We believe salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith and obedience to the gospel. According to Scripture, this includes:

  • Hearing the Word (Romans 10:17)

  • Believing in Jesus (Mark 16:16)

  • Repenting of sins (Acts 2:38)

  • Confessing Christ (Romans 10:9-10)

  • Being baptized for the forgiveness of sins (Acts 22:16)

  • Living faithfully (Revelation 2:10)

Worship

Our worship is simple and follows the pattern of the New Testament:

  • Singing a cappella (Ephesians 5:19)

  • Praying together (Acts 2:42)

  • Studying God’s Word (Acts 20:7)

  • Partaking of the Lord’s Supper each Sunday (Acts 20:7)

  • Giving as God has prospered us (1 Corinthians 16:2)

The Church

We believe the church is the body of Christ (Ephesians 1:22-23). We strive to love one another, serve our community, and share the good news of Jesus.
